William Brown Finnell, 78, of 2401 Spencer Drive, Owensboro, died Saturday, August 12, 2006 at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born March 10, 1928 in St. Louis, MO to the late Florence Galvin Finnell and Cline Brown Finnell. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Jack C. Finnell. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, where he served on the Vestry, and served several years as Treasurer. He was a graduate of Owensboro High School, attended Murray State College, and graduated from Kentucky Wesleyan College. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He retired from Texas Gas as Manager of the Plant Accounting Department.

His many civic duties included serving on the YMCA Board of Directors, Junior Achievement Counselor with top company of the year; President of The Pennyroyal Council of Girl Scouts and President of Owensboro High School PTA.

He is survived by his wife Priscilla Peters Finnell of 55 years; two daughters, Margot Finnell Gorham and her husband John of Alpharetta, GA., and Susan Finnell Ringham of Las Vegas; a son, Gary Brown and his wife Martha Miller Finnell of Alpharetta, GA; his twin sister Betty Finnell Bridges and her husband Robert of Laguna Nigel, CA.; his grandchildren, Tara Ringham Dunn and husband John of Wilmore, KY, William Brown Finnell II, Katherine Hale Finnell, Emily Grace Finnell, Virginia Lee Finnell and Maggie Gorham all of Alpharetta, GA.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 16, 2006 at Trinity Episcopal Church. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 15, 2006 at James H Davis Funeral Home and after 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Episcopal Church. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Mitchell Memorial Cancer Center, 1020 Breckenridge Street, Owensboro, KY 42303 or Trinity Episcopal Church Building Fund, 720 Ford Avenue, Owensboro, KY 42301.
