ALLGEIER, ALFRED W. "AL", SR., 86, of Louisville, passed away Friday, March 05, 2010 at Norton Audubon Hospital.
In 1969 he founded Al Allgeier & Sons and personally framed over 1000 houses in the Louisville area until his retirement in 2003. He also was a WWII Navy veteran, a member of the St. Martin Brotherhood, the St. Joseph Orphan Home Society, and Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church. Through his positive example, he influenced those around him as he volunteered as a Scout Master with Boy Scout Troops #123 and #346 and those who worked with him within the Al Allgeier & Sons company.
Al was preceded in death by his sons, Chris and Paul Allgeier; granddaughter, Terrie Mudd.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 63 years, Ann (Shircliffe); sons, Sonny (Gerry), Jim (Vicki), Charlie (Ruth Ann), Jerry (Sue) and Mark (Karen) Allgeier; daughters, Joanie (George) Mudd and Beth (Frank) Craven; daughters-in-law, Lynn and Jackie Allgeier; 31 grandchildren; 5 step grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 8 step great-grandchildren; and sister, Amelia (Molly) Monarch.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday, March 8, 2010 at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church; 747 Harrison Avenue, Louisville, KY 40217, with interment to follow in St. Michaels Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 – 8 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday at Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home; 3800 Bardstown Road.
