Mr. Walter Burdis Brown, Jr. 75 of Archdale died Friday, April 20, 2007 at his residence.
Mr. Brown was born August 9, 1931 in Lake City, SC a son to the late Walter Burdis Brown, Sr. and Mildred Eaddy Brown. He was a graduate of Clemson University and a member of IPTAY. During the Korean Conflict, he was stationed in Japan as a Master Sergeant with the 31st Fighter Squadron of the United States Air Force.
A 32nd Degree Mason, Mr. Brown belonged to the Derita Masonic Lodge in Charlotte and the Cabarrus County Shrine Club. He was a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans as a descendant of the late Captain William Hill Johnson.
Following his retirement from Parks Cramer, Inc. in Charlotte, Walter enjoyed fishing, working in his yard, tending to his animals and spending time with his grandsons. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother Douglas Brown.
Survivors include his wife Susan Reynolds Brown of the home; a daughter Lucy Yeatts and her husband Matt of Fort Mill, SC; a step-daughter Karen Robinson of Charlotte; two grandsons: Hunter and Harrison; and a brother Kenneth Brown and wife Beverly of Georgetown, SC.
Funeral will be 11:00 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale officiated by Rev. Dana McKim. Entombment with military honors will follow in the Floral Garden Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Sunday night from 7 until 8:30 at the funeral home.
