Ronnie L. Hood, 74, of Owensboro, Kentucky died Thursday, October 16, 2008, at Owensboro Medical Health System. An Owensboro native, he received a BS degree in Business Administration from the University of Kentucky, where he was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed golf. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
Ronnie was retired from Western Kentucky Gas Company, Owensboro, a division of Atmos Energy of Dallas, TX, where he was employed for more than forty years as Director of Operations and as Vice President of Marketing. He is a past member of the board of directors of the Kentucky Independent College Foundation and has been active in professional organizations including the Kentucky Gas Association and the Southern Gas Association.
His local civic activity included such organizations as the Owensboro Rotary Club, Daviess County Lions Club, ODC Chamber of Commerce and he was a past member of the board of directors of the Campbell Club. He has regularly participated in community fund drives for the United Way, Wendell Foster Center and Owensboro Museum of Fine Art. Youth oriented activities have included work with Junior Achievement and the Pop Warner Football League.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary Bryan Hood, director of the Owensboro Museum of Fine Art, and by many cousins.
Services are at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2008, at Trinity Episcopal Church, 720 Ford Avenue, Owensboro, KY. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 4:30-7:30 p.m. on Friday at James H. Davis Funeral Home in Owensboro.
