Alan R. Pollard, 86, of Owensboro, Kentucky passed away Thursday, November 6, 2008, at his home after a long illness. He was born November 1, 1922 in London, England, the son of Leslie and Ethel (McIsack) Pollard. He served in World War II in the 1st Division British Parachute Regiment. He was taken prisoner in Arnhem, Holland and was a prisoner of war , held in Germany for seven months. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church.
He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Barbara D. Pollard; a stepson, M. Paul Sublett of Georgia; four step-grandsons, Keith, John, Mark and Michael Sublett; two step-great grandsons; two step-great granddaughters; a brother, Stanley Pollard of Walsall, England; a sister, Ivy Newcombe of Chelmsford, England and several nieces and nephews.
Services are at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday at Trinity Episcopal Church, 720 Ford Avenue, Owensboro, KY. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery in Owensboro, KY. Visitation is from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Monday at James H. Davis Funeral Home and from 9:00a.m.-10:00a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Episcopal Church.
