Barbara Ann Wilfong, 58 of Matthews, NC, passed away peacefully Monday morning, March 30, 2009 at Sunrise Assisted Living in Charlotte. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Emmo Wilfong and her niece Misty Michelle Wilfong. Her survivors include brothers, Gary Wilfong and wife Debbie of Indian Trail, NC, and Randy Wilfong and wife, Sandy of Charlotte, and two nephews, Michael and Matthew Wilfong of Indian Trail, NC.
Barbara was born in Meadville, Pa, but has resided in the Charlotte and Matthews's area most of her life. Barbara attended East Mecklenburg High School, East Carolina University and the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. She spent her entire career as a Social Worker for the Charlotte/Mecklenburg School System.
Barbara was a kind, loyal and loving individual. Her family, friends, her niece and two nephews were the loves of her life. She loved travel, doing things for others, being a listener, confidant and counselor.
The family will receive friends at the Heritage Funeral Home in Weddington from 12:00 pm till 2:00 pm, Friday, April 3, 2009. A graveside service will follow at the Forest Lawn East Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church, 1200 East Boulevard, Charlotte, NC 28203.
Arrangements are in the care of Heritage Funeral Home, Weddington / Matthews Chapel.
