KAYS, LORAINE, 84, formerly of Louisville, died Monday, February 1, 2010 at Annie Penn Hospital in Reidsville, NC. A native of Springfield, KY., he was a son of the late Oscar and Maude (Mattingly) Kays and had lived in Reidsville for the past 38 years. He was a US Army veteran of WWII, a member of Holy Infant Catholic Church and a retired employee of the American Tobacco Co., where he had worked in Louisville and retired later in Reidsville. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Bertha Agnes (Smallwood) Kays; sons, Joseph Larry Kays (Roxanne) of Virginia, Richard Dennis Kays and David Lynn Kays both of Louisville. James Kevin Kays and John Christopher Kays (Bonnie) both of North Carolina; daughters, Brenda Susan Hoyt (Lynn) of Shepherdsville and Mary Jane Hellinger (Tony) of Louisville; grandchildren, Michael Kays, Neil, Jeremy, and Jessica Hoyt, Natalie Hoyt Edwards, Kim and Christopher Williams, Samantha and Ryan Hellinger; great-granddaughter, Briana Key and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Friday, February 5, 2010 at Ratterman and Sons, 3800 Bardstown Road from 4-8 p.m. A Mass will be held on Saturday, February 6th at 10:a.m. at Mary Queen of Peace, St. Helen Campus, 4005 Dixie Highway (Shively), with entombment in Resthaven Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Mary Queen of Peace, St. Helen Campus, 4005 Dixie Highway or a charity of your choice.
