Dearest Naomi: I am so sorry your partner of 63 years is no longer by your side. Although we know he rests gloriously with his Heavenly Father, his loved ones will miss his presence. You spoke of Abel so often, I felt I knew him as your hero and as our country's hero. I want to read his book about what he witnessed and lived in sacrifice for me and all Americans. I have been moved to tears often as you mentioned parts of his story. Once he was to speak at a MK meeting & became ill, so I did not hear him. I hope to hear from you soon, so I can get the address to order his book. Naomi, I pray for your health and happiness. You are an extraordinary woman. At times like these it is only God who can speak the words that calm the sea, still the wind, and ease the pain. So lean on Him and you will never walk alone. Thinking about you Naomi and wishing you courage to help see you through, day by day so your memories will warm your heart & bring you comfort. BKS

It was my priveledge to speak to my Uncle Abel the day before his birthday. The God you and I serve has always been a God whose method is a man or woman of God. Jerimiah tells us that "before we were in the womb, God, knew us and ordained and set us apart for His plan and purposes". My Uncle Abel was such a man..........it was my priveledge to have known him.

Uncle Abel was an extraordinary man. He not only served his Country honorably but he was also an outstanding soldier in God's army. His life glorified God and is a true testimony of what it means to walk in Love, Faith, Forgivness and Humility. What a blessing and inspiration he has been to the whole family. I will miss his sense of humor and funny stories. No one could tell a story like Uncle Abel. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. I pray God's Love and Comfort for Aunt Mimi, Deb, Danny, Ruth, Susie, Pris, Abel Jr. and Diane.

Who could ask for more than a Christian father? That is more important than a rich one, a handsome one, an intellectual one or a famous one. I had an exceptional Christian father. I wrote that in 1973 in his Father's Day card, but it is more true today.

All of Manchester street knew him only as MR. Ortega. I recall Mr. Ortega helping us install a new door in the back of our home just accros the street from the Ortega family. Then I saw a new addition to the Ortega home he was building. A man of many talents and virtues. A very kind man who occasionaly witnessed to me as a youg boy. I am a better person for having been touched by Mr. Ortega and the Ortega family.

When the Ortega family was growing on 9th. st. in Austin, Iwas born on 8th. (1942)Those were great years If you were to ask me the first name of Mr./Mrs. Ortega I couldn't tell you because we were taught to address any elder by their last name. However, Abel Viduarri (tito)my brother Bert and I had many summers playing in both back yards. This but one of the many pleasant memories I have of the Ortega family. I just want to say I STAND AT ATTENTION. i salute the passing of a good soldier and a great CHRISTIAN MAN who gave his all to god, country, family.

Uncle Abel was a great example for our generation of what true sacrifice and perseverance means. I especially enjoyed our visits in between home and my work in the valley. Your insight, wisdom, and love for the Lord made a great impression and I am proud to have been part of your family, and the overall family of GOD to which you were so dedicated.

Dear Abel & Lorrie,

Please accept our condolences on the loss of Abel’s father. Our thoughts and prayers are with you in this time. We were impressed to read his biography. He saw many things and you can be very proud of his service and toughness. May his memory and spirit last with you forever.

Your friends,
