Althea May Larkin, age 89, of Prince Frederick, MD, formerly of Fairfield, beloved wife of the late William Edward Larkin, Jr., passed away Thursday, March 17, 2016. Born in Bridgeport the daughter of the late Earle and Netty Wakeman, she had been a Fairfield resident since 1965 prior to moving to Maryland in 2012. Mrs. Larkin was a 1944 graduate of Bassick High School in Bridgeport. She worked for the Southern New England Telephone Company until marrying William and raising her daughters, Nancy and Patty. Later in life, Althea worked at Holland Hill Elementary School in Fairfield. She was an active member of Covenant Church of Easton and a lifelong devoted NY Yankee fan. Althea loved attending band concerts on the Sherman Green in Fairfield and her daily lunches at St. Mary's By the Sea watching the boats coming in and out of South Benson Marina. She will be fondly remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who delighted in time spent with her family. Survivors include two beloved daughters, Patricia Ratigan and her husband Michael of Prince Frederick, MD and Nancy Donnelly and her husband John Donnelly, Jr. of Port Orange, FL: two cherished grandsons, Brendon and Mason Ratigan, and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Covenant Church of Easton, 1 Sport Hill Road, Easton. Interment will follow in Lawncroft Cemetery, Fairfield. Friends may call Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The American Legion, Connecticut Soldiers, Sailors and Marine Fund, 864 Wethersfield Avenue, Hartford, CT 06114.
