Ann J. Cronan, age 91, of Fairfield, passed away peacefully Monday, March 28, 2016 in St. Vincent's Medical Center. Born in St. Louis MO, the daughter of the late Anthony and Josephine Janus, she grew up in Los Angeles and resided in Fairfield since 1962. Ann was predeceased by the love of her life, John Cronan, with whom she celebrated 46 years of marriage, and by a daughter Annette Marie and a son John Anthony. She is survived by her four beloved children Kathleen and John Donnelly, Timothy and Mimi Cronan, Ann and Peter L'Altrella and Patrick and Jean Cronan; 9 grandsons, Tom (Michelle), Mike (Jill), Kevin (Allison) Donnelly, Peter (Kari), Nino, Daniel(Jessica) L'Altrella, Jonathan, Benjamin and Sean Cronan. 10 great-grandchildren, Kara, Olivia, Aidan, Nina, Tristan, Payten, Kylan Donnelly, Leighton, Landon and Giovanni L'Altrella; a sister- in-law, Patricia Cronan Vaughan, and a niece Martha Krumboltz (Charles). For 54 years, Ann was a faith-filled parishioner of St. Pius X Church where she was active in the Ladies Guild and Mother's Circle. She taught third grade at St. Pius X School for 21 years, and also taught first grade in Los Angeles for four years. She was a 1946 graduate of UCLA. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and Turner Classic Movies. Ann always placed her family first for whom she created a warm and loving home. She never waivered in her faith. Her entire life was dedicated to helping everyone she met better themselves. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, March 31, 2016 at 11:00 am meeting directly at St. Pius X Church 834 Brookside Drive Fairfield. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Fairfield. Friends may call Wednesday (today) from 4-8 PM in Spear-Miller Funeral Home 39 South Benson Rd. Fairfield. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Ann Cronan and in honor of Nino L'Altrella may be made to the Kennedy Center, 39 Lindeman Drive, Trumbull, CT 06611.
